Get to know iPod

Set your music in motion
First, iPod put music in your pocket. Now it puts on a show. With support for up to 15,000 songs and up to 150 hours of video on a 2.5-inch QVGA color display, iPod gives you the ultimate music experience — sight and sound — in a lighter, thinner design. Available in classic white and dramatic black.
Music to your eyes
With its 320 x 240-pixel QVGA color display, iPod lets you view photos and watch MPEG-4 and H.264 video wherever you go.* View your own videos, or watch music videos and TV shows you can purchase from the iTunes Music Store.
More features in less space
Incredibly, iPod will fit in even more pockets than ever. Measuring less than half an inch thin, the 30GB iPod takes up about 45 percent less space than the original iPod. Even the 60GB model is over 10 percent thinner than the fourth-generation 30GB iPod.
Show and share
Use the optional iPod A/V cable to play videos and photo slideshows with music on your TV. Or combine the new Apple Remote with an optional iPod Universal Dock to control your music, videos and slideshows from across the room.
Vacation companion
Traveling with your digital camera? Leave all those extra memory cards at home. The optional iPod Camera Connector lets you shoot all day, then transfer the pictures from your camera to your iPod, where you can view them immediately.
Up to 20 hours of battery life
The 60GB iPod offers up to 20 hours of music playback between charges, and the 30GB offers 14 hours. The iPod battery can be charged up to 80 percent capacity in 2 hours; a full charge takes 4 hours.

About histograms

A histogram illustrates how pixels in an image are distributed by graphing the number of pixels at each color intensity level. The histogram shows whether the image contains enough detail in the shadows (shown in the left part of the histogram), midtones (shown in the middle), and highlights (shown in the right part) to make a good correction.
The histogram also gives a quick picture of the tonal range of the image, or the image key type. A low-key image has detail concentrated in the shadows; a high-key image has detail concentrated in the highlights; and an average-key image has detail concentrated in the midtones. An image with full tonal range has a number of pixels in all areas. Identifying the tonal range helps determine appropriate tonal corrections.
The Histogram palette offers many options for viewing tonal and color information about an image. By default, the histogram displays the tonal range of the entire image. To display histogram data for a portion of the image, first select that portion.
